Thanks for the suggestion.  How do I break on abort()?  The assert seems to disappear into glib and abort is part of 
stdlib.

Hello Paul,

You could always put a breakpoint on abort(). There is surely some way to configure VS2013 to catch it, but this might 
be the wrong place to ask about that.
