Security includes maintaining availability, right? So I guess that includes preventing and recovering from disasters. Can anyone suggest a good resource for information about fire suppression in server rooms, etc?
First this isn't something you should install yourself. Trained professionals only. Server room fire suppression systems work by displacing oxygen from the air or removing it chemically. Secondly, your building or orginization may have what is called in my work place (a University) Safety Services. Your Safety Services might be hiding under another name. Find the alarm panel for your area/building and read it. There is usually a phone number for you to call. Call it. Third, generic help is available to you. The fire department in your area will be able to suggest something or companies in your area that can help you. The fire department hates fire, and will be happy to help. Your insurance company also hates paying out for fire damage and may also be happy and able to help. FEMA has stuff on this. www.fema.gov They cover the more exciting natural and man made disasters. Are you also responsible for terrorist insurgences and floods? Look here. Lastly.
