http://www.insecure.org/tools.html has a list of the Top 75, many are
free to use. My faves are nmap, nessus, ethereal, WebProxy, and LC4.
Some tools may require a valid email address or such to demo. Some
are only availble for real operating systems (read Linux/UNIX/BSD).

For mundane trivial network occurances, try WS_PingPro Pack. I'm not
sure if there is a freeware license or not ...

To all,

What are everyone's top 5 free utilities that help troubleshoot,
administer, and apply security to their networks, systems, and such?
These tools can be used from anything from networking to disk
fragmenting. I like trying new applications that help with the most
mundane and trivial network occurrences. I like applications that
help me with my day to day operations and are easy to use and
interpret.

Thanks,
