I assume he means TCP/IP ports and not physical ports. Some good alternatives have already been mentioned but I will add my favorite to the list as well. http://m0n0.ch/wall/ Very nice product.

Thus, you get more available ports to be used! ---------- Initial Header ----------- From : "DAmbrosia, Jim" Jim.DAmbrosia () montgomerycollege edu To : security-basics () securityfocus com Cc : Date : Tue, 1 Feb 2005 08:47:12 -0500 Subject : Need secure firewall for SOHOTo the group, I have a colleague who has a SOHO network using ADSL. He is using astandard Linksys router for his firewall, but has reached a limit in the number of ports it can open and manage. I don't have one on hand to check, but evidently the Linksys only has ten slots to configure ports to be opened and he needs 12-15 or so.Without a lot of money he wants to get a different firewall up andrunning that has more ports that it can manage.I suggested the free version of zone alarm as the only free one I'maware of; however it turns out that he wrote his thesis on how you can crack zone alarm.Looking for another much more secure solution? Thanks, Jim,----- (o_ //\ Ghaith Nasrawi V_/_ PAST, n. That part of Eternity with some small fraction of which we have a slight and regrettable acquaintance. A moving line called the Present parts it from an imaginary period known as the Future. These two grand divisions of Eternity, of which the one is continually effacing the other, are entirely unlike. The one is dark with sorrow and disappointment, the other bright with prosperity and joy. The Past is the region of sobs, the Future is the realm of song. In the one crouches Memory, clad in sackcloth and ashes, mumbling penitential prayer; in the sunshine of the other Hope flies with a free wing, beckoning to temples of success and bowers of ease. Yet the Past is the Future of yesterday, the Future is the Past of to-morrow. They are one -- the knowledge and the dream. (The Devil's Dictionary)
