Do you mean on a separate subnet? 
Also, you may have missed it when the OP said he was already using WEP which
may actually be part of the problem as it can be broken relatively quickly.
You may have meant to have put WPA-in which case I apologies for my
assumption.

Yes, MAC addresses are VERY easy to spoof. If you need to have a
wireless network make sure its protected by so form of protection (WEP)
and have OUTSIDE of your private network.. The worst would be internet
access (bandwidth)

Easily sniffed - yes, easily spoofed - hm... I doubt. (also not
impossible for experienced cracker)
