Possibly a little overkill. Altiris will allow you to automatically remove unauthorized software, and to prevent the installation of new software, while also giving you a software inventory of each machine. SMS probably has the same, or similar functions, and I am sure there are others as well. -----Original Message----- From: listbounce () securityfocus com [mailto:listbounce () securityfocus com] On Behalf Of Morgan Reed Sent: Friday, October 31, 2008 5:12 PM To: james () infosec co im Cc: security-basics () securityfocus com Subject: Re: Centralised Software Removal On Fri, Oct 31, 2008 at 10:53 PM, james () infosec co im <security.advice () gmail com> wrote:
Rather that visit each and every machine, to un-install the software, I'm looking for a centrally controlled mechanism to achieve this.
I'd suggest the most effective means of tackling this sort of issue (assuming that you have the capability) is to regularly push a new image to the machines in question.
