hello, Pete & all list-folk -- yes, this is true. however, as Patrick and i have been discussing offline, this is *not* the case with Linux. er...actually, it *is* the case with Linux unless you start mountd with a certain flag. if you do start mountd with the proper flag, Linux will re-export an imported filesystem! ugh. i spoke with a comrade, and he stated that this was a hack, inserted into the Linux mountd code, by a (his words) "rogue programmer". now, as for the usefullness or logic of this idea... at any rate, it seems to be native to Linux *only*, so i would not worry about finding this option anywhere else...yet... i will post the Linux man page to the group this week. i meant to do so today, but i seem to be pressed for time. imagine, a sys-admin with no free time... 8-) regards, --robert -- o robert owen thomas: Unix consultant.
