Subject: [SECURITY] Orderly Shut Down

Colleagues,

We run a mixed environment of 200+ servers in our main computer room.
Our OS range from NT thru 2000, Unix, Linux and others. I was asked
recently to find a way for A) an orderly shutdown procedure and B) an
Emergency shutdown procedures for the servers. In the case of (B), not
all servers may be covered. I currently believe that the only practical
way to do this is using a tool (software or hardware or hybrid) to
automate the process and am interested in views and experiences that you
might have in the matter.

Thank you,

Ariel Silverstone, CISSP, CBCP

Temple University

Thank you,

Ariel
