Well, yes, but... Try finding an ISP (including USWest) that provides their DSL service in anything but bridged mode, which negates all of the advantages you cite. USWest does sometimes provide it in a routed flavor, but even so, it's like trying to pull teeth to get static IP addresses. You have to go to a commercial/business rate to get them, which most folks just aren't willing to do. feh. | -----Original Message----- | From: owner-firewall-wizards () lists nfr net | [mailto:owner-firewall-wizards () lists nfr net]On Behalf Of Aaron C. | Springer | Sent: Monday, November 22, 1999 18:34 | To: Nicholas Tang | Cc: firewall-wizards () nfr net; chuck | Subject: Re: MicroFirewalls for home/low speed connections | | | Us West uses a cisco dsl router that has filtering, NAT and | other real router | features. | | acs | | On 19-Nov-99 Nicholas Tang wrote: | > On Wed, 17 Nov 1999, chuck wrote: | > | >> Why can't the DSL routers ("modems") have this built in?
