Hi all, a slightly off topic question: Any recommendations on network monitors to verify smtp, http, and firewall online status (ping) of various machines. I'm looking for something that can send a page or an e-mail if there is a problem. Thanks!
Well, if you don't mind spending nothing, I've found Netsaint to be a pretty good product. It isn't as robust as some ridiculously expensive products, but it does everything I need, and has been developed very aggressively (ie, no waiting 3 years for the next version). It's open source (good for me, not good for everyone), has a relatively open and extensible model (adding a plugin to check something is very easy) and has a nice web-based reporting interface for the GUI-oriented users. http://www.netsaint.org/ Nicholas ====================================================================== Nicholas Tang Senior System Administrator R/GA Digital Studios ntang () rga com (212) 946-4224 (voice) (212) 946-4010 (fax) ======================================================================
