years; the difference between what the media says and what we know to be
the situation is so huge - did you think that this applied to only one

I think, in general, most people assumed that in the area of general news the media did a good job. It wasn't a surprise to find them struggling with technical issues, but it also didn't follow that they would be equally not up to the task in general news. *That* has been a history-changing realization for many.
