Internet advertising software provider 180solutions, the target of an extortion scheme, is working with the U.S.
Federal Bureau of Investigation to track down a botnet crime ring based in the Netherlands.

The Bellevue, Washington-based company said that in October, Dutch police arrested three suspects accused of operating
a network of 1.5 million infected zomibie PCs worldwide, and that this network was used to steal personal information
and launch a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack against 180solutions in an effort to extort money.

Company spokesperson Sean Sundwall said 180solutions began tracking a distributor of it software, which runs a gaming
site based in the Netherlands, after noticing a sharp spike in the number of installations from that site.
