Likely? I'd say 'already'. Opportunity to succeed on this has
long past.

There never was an opportunity to succeed. Back when only two products
could actually do anything like identify the viruses, and back when there
was a couple of hundred, and a dozen new ones per month, then it was
possible, and we did establish a standard set of names. But that was
then and this is now, and when you have a couple of hundred new things each
month, independently identified by a couple of dozen companies and with an
urgency in putting out a fix, a common naming standard isn't possible. All
that is possible, is to create yet another name (CME-24) that will get
used by one or two people. Whoopee-do.

Remember the reaction of this list? Create and use *yet another* name,
which no product was using.
