I believe the opposite is true. If I recall correctly, Traci Lords -
infamous porn star in the US many moons ago (pun unintentional) - made
several movies while under the age of 18. However, she had claimed to be
over the age of 18 and had produced documents to that effect. When she
turned 18, she formed her own production company, made a couple of movies
with herself as star, blew the whistle on the other movies (i.e. being
underage), which forced all those off the shelf. She then had the rights to
the only legally distributable Traci Lords porn movies, which probably set
her up nicely for life. Those who had produced and/or distributed the
underage movies weren't chargeable because they acted in good faith - i.e.
believing her to be above the legal age limit.

I understand it's a crime if you thought a girl was over 18, and she's
actually under 18, because what counts is what is true, not what you
thought was true.

But wouldn't that also mean that the reverse is true, if the person he was
actually seducing was a 45 year old fed?

Colour me confused.
