The DSL and cable modem lines are NOT YOUR lines. You lease them. The service entirely belongs to the company, not you. They are letting you use the service and you are paying them for it.
<snip>
If the ISP's feel like some data is worth more than others, then that is their perogative. They will live and die by that theory. The law of supply and demand will shape the results.
If the law of supply and demand were true in this case, then I think that the outcry would not be as loud. If "Bill and Ted's Excellent DSL Service" could offer net neutrality at a slightly higher monthly cost, then supply and demand would rule. However since the number of players in the space is small/shrinking, and the cost of entry into this market is very high, your choice will be QoS throttled Internet access or nothing. --Keith Keith Young, Security Official Department of Technology Services Montgomery County, Maryland phone - (240) 777-2955 _______________________________________________ Fun and Misc security discussion for OT posts. https://linuxbox.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/funsec Note: funsec is a public and open mailing list.
