http://online.wsj.com/article/SB117251257431319557.html Verizon Wireless said Monday it won a more than $200,000 judgment against a wireless spammer. The cellphone operator, a joint venture of Verizon Communications Inc. and Vodafone Group PLC, said the default judgment bars Specialized Programming and Marketing LLC and owner Charles Henderson from sending future spam text messages to wireless customers and orders the company to pay damages of more than $200,000. Verizon Wireless said Specialized and Mr. Henderson sent nearly 100,000 unsolicited text messages to Verizon customers offering a prize vacation on behalf of Passport Holidays. Neither Specialized and Mr. Henderson nor Passport could be immediately contacted for comment. Verizon, Basking Ridge, N.J., initially filed suit against Passport in October 2005 but amended its complaint in February 2006 to include Specialized and Mr. Henderson after Passport identified them. Passport was barred from future spamming and ordered to pay $10,000 in damages, which Verizon said it donated to the Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence. _______________________________________________ Fun and Misc security discussion for OT posts. https://linuxbox.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/funsec Note: funsec is a public and open mailing list.
