I'm confused, is the "threat to privacy" based on the amount of data you given these sites and is then held by the site owner? I guess I don't see it as all that bad that google knows what I'm looking for - especially since their ads have actually helped me find it quicker in the past. If they were providing that information to third parties then I'd think there's a privacy issue. But, again, what I give them I expect them to know. That's no more of a threat than the info my bank has on me, or the big three credit reporting agencies (wow!).
