* Richard M. Smith:
http://www.cnn.com/2007/TECH/space/06/14/space.shuttle.ap/index.html HOUSTON, Texas (AP) -- Russian computers that control the international space station's orientation and supply of oxygen and water have failed, potentially extending the space shuttle's mission -- or cutting it short.
It's been reported that the culprit are computers made by DASA Bremen (for some values of "made", presumably). <http://www.esa.int/esapub/bulletin/bullet93/TAYLOR.pdf> Sabotage is unlikely. Parallel failure smells like a software bug. I would be surprised if they had software redundancy. _______________________________________________ Fun and Misc security discussion for OT posts. https://linuxbox.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/funsec Note: funsec is a public and open mailing list.
