Au contraire. Add swearing just provides a differently dimensioned box. Your freedom and openness of thought should be independent of the level of swearing allowed. In high school I used to say swearing was for those who hadn't the vocabulary not to swear. Then I met a very good friend who is now an extremely articulate well-read lawyer who still punctuates sentences excessively with cuss words. Now I have met lots of people who are articulate, yet swear seemingly unnecessarily... but then I worked at a lumber remanufacturing plant for awhile. I like the George Carlin reference, because he artfully asserts his position on language use in his comedy. If you need swearing to add colour to life, you really are in a box.
I like my box. It's 4-dimentional. It comes in colour.

Why is swearing bad? And I don't mean insulting someone or inapropriately cussing, I mean adding colour to life. Some people get offended, and I respect that, but if I can't swear, my mind isn't as free in thinking outside of the box. The peones (small fish) don't swear, because: 1) it's a cultural no-no; 2) they could get fired for improper behavior. The big fish feel strong and free, and some assert their egos by inappropriate behavior. So I think that you don't get promoted because you swear, but that some people start swearing because they feel they can get away with it. Ciao!
