Keep in mind, please, as long as you've mentioned 9/11, that this
is the same hapless troop of baboons which failed to defend *its own
headquarters* from a single, lumbering, slow, un-stealthy, un-armed
civilian airliner flown by barely-trained amateurs, clearly visible
on radar, with obvious intent, and inbound with plenty of warning.
Moreover, this obvious and total failure came well *after* many years
of assurances that they were quite prepared to defend against a serious
attack -- that is, one conducted with fast, maneuverable, stealthy,
heavily-armed aircraft flown by experienced combat pilots and directed
against multiple targets.

Of course, if you ask "the typical American" about this, they will
utterly fail to grasp its tactical and strategic significance.
