Afilias had some really huge problems back in the day, and basically got
security religion because of it.  If you notice, they're the guys who own
.ORG, the only gTLD with active signing plans.

(OK, I didn't do a survey, and I am probably even working from old
impressions.
But it seems to me I saw an awful lot of dangerous stuff on .info sites, in
comparison to actual legit material ...)
