###################################################################### The Honeypot Maillist Quarterly Reminder Last Modified: 07 October, 2004 ###################################################################### 1.0 PURPOSE =========== 1.1 This is the Honeypot maillist Quarterly Reminder. The purpose of this post (sent every quarter) is to be a friendly reminder on the issues and etiquete of this maillist. 1.2 It is hoped that these rules will help standardize posts, and reduce the noise level. The goal is to improve the overall quality of our list. 2.0 SENDING EMAILS ================== 2.1 The purpose of this maillist is to discuss honeypot technologies and anything honeypot related (such as risks, legal issues, deployment, deception, etc). Material that appears as a blatant advertisement, or material not related to honeypots, will be blocked. 2.2 Individuals new to the maillist are HIGHLY encouraged to first read the honeypot maillist FAQ. Any post that can be answered by the FAQ will be blocked, and the author of the email will be directed to the FAQ. This reduces the noise level of the maillist. http://www.tracking-hackers.com/misc/faq.html 2.3 When you reply to a posting, please trim your reply so only pertinent material applies. Also, include your response near the top of the posting. We do not want to have threads that have replies responding to repliese responding to replies, and then your reply is located at the bottom of a loooooong email. 2.4 Please post in ASCII format only, no HTML, XML, or anything else ending in ML :) 2.5 Please do not send attachments. Instead, post a URL so folks can access your file(s) online. Not only does this save bandwidth and address security issues, but other folks not on our maillist can then access your file(s) and learn about what you are up to. 2.6 Please no cross postings. This means do not send posts to the honeypots maillist that are also copied to other maillists. Things get real messy when people from other lists start cross-posting and responding to each other. The only exception is for announcements, such as conferences or tools. 3.0 LIST MAINTENANCE ==================== 3.1 Every mail posted to this maillist is archived. You can search and review past postings at http://online.securityfocus.com/archive/119 3.2 Maillist Maintenance FAQ http://www.securityfocus.com/popups/forums/honeypots/faq.shtml 3.2 How do I unsubscribe: Send an e-mail message to honeypots-unsubscribe () securityfocus com from the subscribed address. The contents of the subject or message body do not matter. You will receive a confirmation request message to which you will have to answer. 3.3 Periodically the Moderator (me) will send emails to the list. Email accounts that bounce will be removed. As always, if you have any suggestion on how to improve the maillist, email me directly. Thanks!Lance
