Barlow's friends and family are staging a benefit concert to fund his
Wellness Trust on Monday, October 24 in Mill Valley. It's at the
Sweetwater Music Hall and will include music by many of Barlow's
friends and collaborators, including Bob Weir, Jerry Harrison, Lukas
Nelson, Members of String Cheese Incident, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Sean
Lennon, and Les Claypool.

There will also be an auction of art pieces and prizes donated for the
occasion.

Tickets are $500. VIP tickets for a 6:30pm reception are $1000.

All the proceeds will go into the John Perry Barlow Wellness Trust,
which was set up by his three daughters and friends to provide for his
care and recovery. In addition, they're accepting donations to the
trust independent of the benefit, at:

I spent some hours with Barlow yesterday at UCSF Hospital. He is in
good spirits after an abdominal operation a week ago to remove a
blockage from his small intestine that had plagued him for six weeks.
He is still in the intensive care unit, and hasn't set foot on the
ground for weeks, so he will again have to work hard to regain some
mobility. But he has recovered his mental capacity and good humor
after a challenging bout of postoperative delirium. The staff is
hoping to transfer him to an ordinary UCSF hospital room today. His
short-term goal is to become able enough to attend his own benefit in
two weeks!

I'll see you at Sweetwater...

   John

PS: If you have any Barlow memorabilia, or art objects you weren't
really using, and you want to include them in the auction, let me or
his daughter Anna Winter Barlow know. Any old copies of "Decrypting
the Puzzle Palace?" Any "Declarations of Independence of Cyberspace"?
Etc...
