Pardon the dumb question but I started playing around with 4.21Alpha 4 and wanted to see the new scripting engine in action. I noticed that during a version detection scan nmap will look for the /scripts directory for version detection scripts. I noticed that the Windows .zip binary release did not include any of the scripts. Is this deliberate or is this a mistake.
This is definitely not a dumb question. It seems to be an oversight. I am not exactly sure why but none of the 21ALPHA versions of nmap have the scripts with them. A quick fix would be to grab http:// insecure.org/nmap/dist/nmap-4.20ALPHA4.tgz extract it and copy the scripts/ directory to the directory where you extracted the win32 zip. In the next release we'll make sure they're included :) cheers Diman _______________________________________________ Sent through the nmap-dev mailing list http://cgi.insecure.org/mailman/listinfo/nmap-dev Archived at http://SecLists.Org
