i'm not trying to discourage people from asking questions, only simple ones, how much mail would there be on this list if people were always asking things like 'how do i block port foo outgoing on xl0 with ipf' when there is perfectly good/available documentation. i apologize if this intent was unclear. if you were already aware of some of the available open source software for hotline, why not mention this? that way you'll save yours and others time, all you need is a little blurb 'oh i've already checked out gtkhx, what i really want is more details, has anyone done a thorough reverse engineer of this protocol?' or something like that.
asking questions is a good thing ? so you dont have more useless seat dwellers at the keyboard ? just curious to that one too. i wonder if medical lists react the same way as people on this list do ? shinder information that should be shared to educate other medical pratitioners so the physical care of an individual might not be advanced and is discouraged to the point of bad and or neglected healthcare ? hmmmmmm just like security kinda eh ?
again, i'm not trying to summarily discourage people from asking questions, only simple, terse ones. i don't see how this is a very useful comparison anyway. anyway, try http://www.vivahx.com/guides/hotline_server_protocol.txt http://www.vivahx.com/guides/hotline_tracker_protocol.txt there's others relating to hotline there.. http://www.vivahx.com/guides/ If you didn't like hx, you can still try the java impl. and the perl module. I don't know how well documented they are, the java one looks like it is. http://awacs.dhs.org/software/wasbeer/doc/LATEST/overview-summary.html -- Brian Russo <brusso () phys hawaii edu> GPG ID: 54D81666 404E 87E8 DD0C 275B 742B 09AD 2243 839C 54D8 1666 http://www.phys.hawaii.edu/~brusso/gpg_brian.asc magnus frater spectat te - encrypt whenever possible
