snort 1.8.1-RELEASE + release rules + 4.4-RC = exit on signal 11

I'm trying to run snort 1.8.1, compiled from the FreeBSD /usr/ports (updated
via cvsup, updated on 9/24).  I'm currently running a subset of the rules taken
from the -RELEASE, I think) and seeing snort terminate with signal 11 about 
once a day.  If I use either the finger or ftp rules snort dies more
quickly.

I'm currently running FreeBSD 4.4-RC.

1.7 ran very reliably.  

Any ideas of what to look at?
