It's a template.  You need to cp it to php.ini and then edit it to fit
your site's parameters.  Pay *special* attention to the security
warnings in the file.  PHP will only recognize a php.ini file, not a
php.ini-dist file.

actually, i'm using FreeBSD 4.7.

i was able to find the file using "find / -name "php.*". Erek's method
also worked.

what i found was /usr/local/etc/php.ini-dist

i'm assuming this is the file... however is this file active?  is this
only a template?  do i need to copy it over as php.ini?
