If you dont have any recent updates theres a simple method which involve you
using a windows 2000 CD(full version)
Just boot into the 2k disc and select restore and follow the steps from
there and it will take you past the login
straight into XP

[tested on Xp Home/pro NO Updates}

Worth a try ;)
