What he is probably referring to is the fact that all (most) cameras store meta date in every image, and if your camera phone has GPS, one of the things the camera can store is location. It is an easy task to read this meta date, any imaging program like photoshop, gimp can do this. We had a (sort of) scandal some years ago, where a newspaper in their on-line version had uploaded all the topless model pictures with full meta date and among this meta data you could read the private addresses of all the girls on the pictures.
