I don't think that most truly understand (As others have pointed
out) and the OS X users continue living in their utopian world
where they *think* that they can't be owned.

Most users don't think about security at ALL, regardless of platform,
at most feeling vaguely safe or unsafe, depending on their particular
misunderstandings. Let's call them The Innocent.

The platform-specific bloggers, apologists, fanatics, security geeks,
and carnival hucksters feel righteous or defensive, depending on
their particular misunderstandings. Let's call them (us?) The Damned.

The Damned do at least one really useful thing: They publicly argue
about what's secure and what's not, what the stakes are, what being
secure really means, and how we should go about getting there.

Look back five or ten years, and you'll see far fewer "civilians"
considering security issues, let alone arguing about them. I say
it's a good thing. And if the Slightly Less Damned among us can
nudge things in good directions and discourage the more blatant
nonsense, then hooray.

PS: The Damned tend to talk too much... apologies for my part in
that. :-)
