Every inch of ground given in the fight for our eroding privacy
rights is a big deal.

The _real_ big deal is that now it is being brought out of the
shadows, exposed to the public in a way that they can understand
and relate to it, at a moment in time where we may actually get
some small amount of satisfaction that the telephone companies
cannot so easily be complicit in their ability to simply give
away such records outside of the framework of the law -- that's
the real crime here.

(his name is RIGHT THERE... ugh). That story had it as a world-wide
spy network, complete with agreements with foreign countries. In
return for our spying on their citizens they would spy on us.

Now, just like the program itself, I've never seen anything saying
this is true or untrue - but most people accepted it and moved on
(unless you were prone to wearing tinfoil hats or hanging out at gun
shows after hours). So, again, what's the big deal NOW?
