If I was the officer, I would have reacted the same way. I don't care if he had a Winnie the pooh costume on, from 20 feet away I'm sure that ak-47 looked awfully real plastic or not, along with the dynamite ands such. Now, with the sign he was waving, and the fact it was Halloween, I'm sure the cops figured that it was just some idiot and never actually expected to pull the trigger. But I for one wouldn't bet MY life on it, if it looks like a real weapon, it IS a real weapon until proven otherwise, I certainly would have had my weapon drawn and ready.... This guy wasn't a 10 year old (hell 10 year old's have more sense that that guy did) he is a 49 year old idiot that should know better... Michael P. that's only if they're made after a certain date (probably 1998, but this is just a guess). Either that or they have to be made of bright colors so as not to be mistaken for a real weapon. There isn't any federal ban on importing toy guns either, AFAIK that is.... Of course there's no law about the fake dynamite he had strapped around him, and him dancing like an idiot on a bridge for everyone to see. Sounds to me like he's an idiot. If you dress like a terrorist, strap road flares around your body (they look a lot like the classic "dynamite" look from the movies), wave a toy full sized AK-47 around, with toy handgrenades and such you deserve to go to jail.... He's just lucky he didn't get shot, he didn't drop the weapon at first? Further proof that he's an idiot. When armed officers whom are pointing their REAL pistols at you, ask you to drop what you have in your hand, you drop it or get shot, pretty black and white if you ask me... I'm surprized he didn't point the fake ak-47 at the officers and make bang-bang noises too! Yup, I'm convinced, he's an idiot. He deserves what the court dishes out to him...
c'mon He had an "I love the Taliban" sign. and was decked out like rambo. If our cops expect terrorists to go around like that, then I am scared for our safety. I dont think they needed to draw their guns as cops should be able to tell the difference between a real threat and a raving lunatic. Insane/Crazy people shouldn't be shot just because our cops cant tell the difference between TV/Movie terrorists and real ones. -JP _______________________________________________ Fun and Misc security discussion for OT posts. https://linuxbox.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/funsec Note: funsec is a public and open mailing list.
