It looks like UK's Big Brother technology worked like a charm to help nail

Detectives believe that a Mercedes involved in the failed attacks in London
came from Scotland. They have tracked part of the car's route south last
week using number-plate recognition technology mounted in cameras along the
M6.

I guess its inevitable that the powers that be will know everything
about their citizens. Cell phones have been used as bugs, tracers,
and even missile delivery systems. Somehow the niftyness of the iPhone
outweighs all the privacy issues, yet cameras, since they deliver no
convenience, hail of cries of outrage.

I think we should acquiesce that invasion of privacy is already here
and work towards legislation to better root out corruption in our
systems, rather than vainly try to quash the deployment of the
technollogy that makes this possible.
