Unattended linux updates

As was said before it's not a distro question but a method or software
question. I know puppet is a software program for linux / unix like systems
that automatically manages updates and ensuring all your programs and demons
are running and will alert you and attempt to restart them. It worked really
well in the university I use to work for.
