After seeing your previous post, that did dawn on me.  If we were to do that,
we'd acutally have to have a list of Motherboard, PROM, chipsets, etc.  That
becomes unmaintainable _real_ quick.

There are also lots of real life examples from each of the well known
hardware manufacturers, where the well-known manufacturer does not even
design or build their own equipment. Several of them contract with other
lessor-known manufacturers, over-seas companies, etc, to produce a
product they can take to market.

Also known as OEM (Original Equipment Maker, I think....).  Radio Shack did
that for years, as did _many_ others.
