This is a streaming protocol with a custom player. How would one set up a
proxy?

Can't you just get a proxy server in Ireland or the UK and use that? Or a
proxy server in Canada?

I should add that MLB's blackout rules
(http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/subscriptions/mlbtv.jsp) got considerably
more onerous this year: "Local Live Blackout: ALL LIVE MLB.TV games will be
blacked out in both teams' home telecast markets and in Japan."

IOW, if your team has a TV contract you can't watch their games if you live
within the local market, which is pretty broadly defined, something like
40-50 miles radius. This used to apply only to home games. Until I get a
Senate committee to look into this in depth I need a solution for Real
Americans to watch their baseball on their computers! It's generally not a
problem for me since I live out of my own team's market, but I've received a
couple of complaints.

Also I recommend my column from 2 years ago on this:
http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1759,1617714,00.asp. It has one of my
favorite opening paragraphs.
