Respectfully, it's the height of sophistry to compare a two-bit,
third-rate, third-world dictator running a country that was in tatters
with Hitler and Germany; and by inference, Churchill to Bush.

Your grasp of history is breathtaking. That's exactly when we did go
to war against Germany - a couple of days after the invasion of
Poland. I thought everyone knew that. Evidently there's at least one
American who doesn't.

You are correct that I mispoke. However, I once again prove my ability
to admit a mistake.

You might consult your memory, however, and note that the just of what I
was saying is true.
From Wikipedia:
Soon, though, his attention was drawn to the rise of Adolf Hitler and
the dangers of Germany's rearmament. For a time, he was a lone voice
calling on Britain to strengthen itself to counter the belligerence of
Germany.[25] Churchill was a fierce critic of Neville Chamberlain's
appeasement of Hitler, leading the wing of the Conservative Party that
opposed the Munich Agreement which Chamberlain famously declared to mean
"peace in our time".[26]

Had they acted sooner...

Did it
cost more to go to war later rather than sooner? Hard to say, but
just in lives lost and and the damage done to London I would have to

believe Churchill was trying to save some money...

Since yout assumption about when England went to war is historically
incorrect, your question doesn't arise.

But it does arise, if you had gone to war earlier...?

If you want to be taken seriously as an analyst of events, you have to

get those events correct.

I don't mind misspeaking every once in awhile. Everyone does it. I would
only be concerned with someone who misspeaks regularly and never admits
it. Only thing worse is one who snipes with BS and runs away, never to
respond to the BS again.
