The problem, and the entire political debacle behind "illegal
wiretapping", was what happens when one, or both, of the known/suspected
operatives with known phone numbers are inside the US? What if you have
to get the warrent issued by a moron who watches Law & Order or Boston
Legal and assumes that, like on TV, every possible use of government
wiretapping is blatant racism?

Warrants are issued by *judges*. If the judge is issuing rulings based on
how things are on TV rather than the law in his or her state and/or
Circuit, you have *bigger* problems than wiretaps.

Agreed. Unfortunately, I have a "well, around here..." story regarding that.
It would have been funny if it weren't so sad. We have some really fair,
nice, decent judges. But ultimately, almost all judges are either elected or
appointed from the attorney base, which makes them political animals. Just
take a quick stock of the activism behind some of the benches. Right- or
left-wing, putting on the fake wig doesn't magically make them apolitical.

And even if they don't have an agenda, it also doesn't make them responsive.

I guess now I'm on the list, too, with my anti-judge ranting.

"Son, I did a search on Google for you name and I saw a very interesting
posting on this 'fun sec'. What are you here for?"
"Speeding ticket."
"Ah, felonious car assault..."
