It appears that Metrofi don't insert ads into web pages. This was the response from MetroFi support:

"The answer is no.  MetroFi does not insert ads into pages secured by SSL and does not break SSL security in any way."

Reading the original posts here, it seems noone has actually catagorically stated that their SSL connection was broken 
- just that it might be possible.

Has anyone actually used MetroFi and had ads inserted into their SSL connection, or is this all just a bit of a storm 
in a teacup?
