Obviously there are lots of people who aren't bothered by the potential for spamming and other frauds (like the postal mail scams about renewing your domain). That's OK, I can appreciate that you're all a bunch of defeatists. But whois information is such a fraud what's the point? Especially with a postal mail contact. Have any of you ever contacted a domain registrant by postal mail for any legitimate reason?
You've clearly never worked real, susttained abuse rporting... The fact that so many bogus/undesirable/bad registrations had clealry bogus contact information is a small hammer that you can repeatedly hit the almost terminally clueless registrars with until they finally work out that they are actively supporting the bad-ness. Wimps bleating for the reduction in exposure of such data because they personally can't handle a few more spams will seriously hamstring very important, very extensive sub-LE abuse handling effort, the upshot if which is that the bleaters WILL receive a great deal more spam AND a suffer (directly or indirectly) from a great deal more of all the other kinds of net-nastiness such abuse reporting keeps somewhat in check at the moment. Of course, if you are secretly such a net abuser, you should continue your whiney defense of your pathetic inability to handle your spam, as there are too many loons with significant input into making these decisions with equally over-bearing and narrow-sighted views of the importance of reducing their personal spam receipt who you may be able to sway over to your preference for making things a great deal worse...
