... Some of the places I'd suggest looking at: .nz, .au, .fi, .se, .no, .ch, .dk, .ca, .fo. I'd probably also look into the rest of the world some - south-east Asia, the Indian sub-continent, and South America come to mind as worth a look-in.
IMHO, .ar and .uy are definitely worth a look, especially if you get out of the big cities. In the small towns and country side, both are almost an idyllic through-back to the U.S. 1950s.
