der Mouse:
Why does it need such a way? What's wrong with letting your users invite their friends and colleagues personally and directly, via whatever means they happen to have at hand for communicating with the friends and colleagues in question? That started out as a rhetorical question, but it actually is a good question to ponder. What _is_ wrong with it? Why do you feel a need to offer a send-an-invite option yourselves?
Because in general these systems are almost never interesting enough that people will spontaneously tell any of their friends about it, but if the system provides a prominent one-click "spam your friends" button, enough people will push it that you'll get enough new members that you can claim fantastic growth, hopefully long enough to get some VC funding and feel rich for awhile before the hype-cycle runs down? :) DC
