After Ahmad's thoughtful reply, wasn't sure if I wanted to step into this one and be a party to something that could possibly enter into a death spiral of religion and politics. I think the majority of this planet has a bit of education due, even if it's at the end of a 2x4 and we pray to God that it won't be anything more potent to get the point across. While Uh-mericans think "loony towelheads" and Pan-Arabs think "loony Jesusland Zionist coddlers" and we're all getting whipped up on both sides of this particular issue to HATE, perhaps the SANE among us can remind our own that for every Osama, there's a Jerry Falwell and God is RARELY on the side of those who HATE. In fact, I think I can cash those chips in. :) I was born and raised in the Bronx (NYC) as a Catholic, did it all from being an "altared boy" to going to Graymoor to study for the priesthood as a Franciscan nearly 40 years ago and the first thing we got in our indoctrination was sitting down and reading the Holy Qu'ran (sure hope I put the ' in the right place, "real men" don't use spell checkers and I'm too damned tired right now to google the correct spelling of any of the "holy books" of the world) and Torah and Bhaghvad gita (among others) to learn and comprehend that what is also respected by Islam ("people of the book") and the commonality of "God" among so many religions - it was a rather humbling experience that "Uh-merican bible-thumpers" are taught is BLASPHEMY. Well, with so many loose wingnuts here in the States who believe that conflict among Jews and Muslims is a means to an end (to quote Falwell, Robertson and Bush) "let's BRING IT ON!" (Armageddon) as that "means to and end" ... namely that everybody dies over there so that CHRISTIANS will own "the promised land" after the Jews die (except for 144,000 survirors) and JESUS rules Jerusalem and not "Zionists") ... the whole "rebuild the temple" and all the other "bring it on silliness" even though anyone who's studied the Christian bibles KNOWS that this is NOT the proper time for it as the supposed "signs" have NOT lined up. Compare to equal levels of loose wingnuts "over there" who, like our own wingnuts, have bastardized the word of God for their own political purposes, and we've all got one BIG BAD PROBLEM as a planet. These are NOT the so-called "end times" because so many things necessary according to the prophecies of so many "people of the book" documents has not transpired, and yet here's all these lunatics forming world political opinions hell-bent on making it happen ANYWAY. :( Islamic nations REALLY need to rein in their lunatics, and SO DO WE! And one thing we all really need to do is ramp down the HATE and find some common ground. For so many people in so many places who insist that "God is on OUR side" there's a rude awakwning due for ALL making such blasphemous claims. It's time for ALL of us to step back from the brink. Sorry, just needed to be said. One thing lacking even more than "security" on this orb in space is "SANITY." :( I go sleepies. Heh. At 04:29 AM 2/18/06, Unca Valdis wrote:

Our diligence doesnt stop there, we kick it up another notch and inspect any shoe that flies anywhere in the lower 48 to boot.http://nuclearweaponarchive.org/Usa/Weapons/B83.html We know where all of *ours* are (I think). But we kept 650 of them because another country had equivalents, and I'm not convinced we know where all of *those* ended up. And for those who wonder if suitcase nukes are doable: http://nuclearweaponarchive.org/News/DoSuitcaseNukesExist.html Neither a B83 or a W-54 will fit inside the shoes we check 100% of, but both will fit nicely inside the standard freight containers we only check 5% of. Think about that the next time you see a container ship in the NYC harbor..... _______________________________________________ Fun and Misc security discussion for OT posts. https://linuxbox.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/funsec Note: funsec is a public and open mailing list.
