The US has been a minor a**hole as compared to what Islam has been for the vast majority of its existence. Islam has been spread almost exclusively by conquest, and its grip in the places where it is the majority religion is invariably enforced by intolerant police states. The Muslim street is disaffected because their lives are hell, thanks to their Islamic rulers, who feed the propaganda that it is the US and Israel's fault. Hitler did the same thing: blame someone else for your own failures and tell the mob they stole what is "yours" so they don't pay attention while you ACTUALLY steal it from them (the leaders of the Oil rich gulf countries live lives of stupendous opulence while many of their people starve). Frankly, I think our response to an attack that killed more of our people than Pearl Harbor has been too measured. Someone should remind the Muslims about "No Hard Feelings Day" (August 6th). The Islamic world is a dump and terrible place to live, despite having vast mineral wealth, because of how the clerics pit people against each other, and the rest of the world. A good summary of the effect of Islam on civil society is here: http://97.74.65.51/readArticle.aspx?ARTID=30675 I'm sick of this "The US are the bad guys" meme. The worst abusers of Muslims have always been other Muslims. You should read Peter Hammond's book: Slavery, Terrorism, and Islam. http://www.amazon.com/Slavery-Terrorism-Islam-Historical-Contemporary/dp /0958454981 Compare and contrast the contributions to science, engineering, medicine etc. of the pre-Islamic middle east with its current state. Compare and contrast Israel with the rest of the region, and tell me that, really, it's the sliver of land that they took from the Palestinians that is the total difference between the squalor and endless cycle of violence that characterizes the rest of the region; and the transformation of a desert into fertile fields, the creation of a stable democracy with a modern economy that produces patents, knowledge, and high tech products without any natural resources other than its people. How many Muslims have won Nobel prizes in Physics, Chemistry, Medicine, Economics, or Literature? How many Jews? I'll save you the effort: http://www.sodahead.com/world-news/jewish-vs-islamic-nobel-prize-accompl ishments/blog-166783/ Seriously: If Islam disappeared as an ideology tomorrow, would the world be worse off? If the US and Israel disappeared tomorrow, where would you get your medicines, the next version of the Internet, advances in Artificial Intelligence, improved farming, technology for green energy, etc. etc. Just because a bunch of hurlers on the ditch keep repeating the lie that the problem in the world is "US Imperialism" doesn't make it so. The US has conquered large parts of the world, in one case twice (western Europe), and all we have kept is enough land to bury our dead. Compare and contrast that with how Europe behaved until the second time the US rescued it from its own internecine insanity, how Japan acted until pacified by McArthur, how the Soviet Union enslaved and killed millions, how Islam has always acted, or how China is acting now (Tibet FE). The problem in the world is a bunch of fanatics who want to force everyone else to their will, whether that is manifested as Nazism, Fascism, Communism, Islamism, or self righteous Gaianist Socialism doesn't matter. Without the US the world would already have slipped into another dark age. If we don't stop Islamism, it surely will soon. Personally, I think we should let the rest of you all go back to the dark ages, and just focus on the Americas.

WAS RE: Don'tspend too much time in the bathroom...PLEASEIf that offends them, then maybe they (and realistically, it is only the Islamic world that can end the scourge of Islamic terrorism)
will
do something about the funding of radicalizing Madrassas and firebrand clerics that are at the root of the whole problem.Speaking of ignoring the elephant in the room...! I think blaming "firebrand clerics" *is* ignoring the elephant in the room, that being that the USA has been a world-class a**hole to major fractions of the world for a substantial time, and the only surprise
to
me is that it's taken those chickens this long to come home to roost. Even the best of firebrand clerics can't do much without a substantial level of disaffection in the populace to work on, after all. /~\ The ASCII Mouse \ / Ribbon Campaign X Against HTML mouse () rodents-montreal org / \ Email! 7D C8 61 52 5D E7 2D 39 4E F1 31 3E E8 B3 27 4B _______________________________________________ Fun and Misc security discussion for OT posts. https://linuxbox.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/funsec Note: funsec is a public and open mailing list.
