As such that column is meant to do everything but provoke apathy in the readership. So if you detect some bluster or overstatement, he is fulfilling the mission by giving his opinion (even if it is wrong).
Often stated in the educational biz, the student is left to solve the rest of the problem (is he qualified and is he full of bs).
